So, been a while.... *grin. I thought it would be best to give a pictorial update, because pictures are worth thousands of words, and I am thousands of words behind. So. Here we go!
Before a surprise trip to Utah in March, we went to the Railroad Museum. Trev and I got to drool over the engines and reminisce about Alaska, and Dev just had a blast hopping on and off the trains.
In March I also got my hair cut, and the woman who cut my hair told me that she cut her little girl's hair even though it was really short because it triggered the hair somehow and made it grow like a weed. Well, I really can't wait until I can do something with Devri's hair, so when I got home Dev got her first haircut! Not that much came off--I only cut max a half an inch off and just evened her hair out. Her hair is DEFINITELY thicker, although I'm not sure that it was due to the cutting.
Can I just tell you how much Devri loves rocks? Going outside is a must for us, and I frequently take her to gardens and whatnot, and the first thing she does when we get out of the car is yell "Rock!" and instantly busies herself with grabbing as many little or big rocks as her hands can hold. The really big rocks are just as good, though, and she spent quite a while climbing and sliding down these ones.
We went to a butterfly museum recently, which was really cool! They had a play area, and then an area for looking and interacting with bugs, and then a terrarium filled with plants and different butterflies. For me, the terrarium was the best part, I even had a few land on me! For Devri, her favorite part with the bug area. I can't believe that girl sometimes! She was giddily excited about petting a Madagascar hissing cockroach, and couldn't wait to hold a tarantula! She's so much braver than me in different ways - she's amazing. :)
I started taking a hypnobirthing class, and at the hospital where it's offered some smart dude thought they'd hit the tail light out of my parked car and run away while I was inside. Well, in the interim of getting a new cover, I used my greatly practiced coloring and cutting skills and improvised! Doesn't it look like something that came right out of Elmo's World?
OOH! New dessert I tried. Can't remember the name, but it's made of baked meringue, whipped cream, lemon zest, and oh, so many strawberries. Very sweet and rich, and it doesn't last more than a few hours max, but totally worth it.
Trev and I love to take hikes around here. Being over seven months along in this pregnancy has significantly shortened their length, but when you've got the Colorado mountains around you, what can you do? The area behind us used to be used for grazing huge herds of horses before it was donated by a family for Natural Open Space. Hopefully my backyard will be something like this someday.
Trevor, Devri and I went on VACATION! To a cute little town two hours away called Eagle. You should all go. We'll meet you there. And we'll eat at the restaurant where you can enjoy Greek pizza, Italian calzones, German saurkraut, and Japanese Sushi all in one sitting. Yeah, that was a heavenly meal.
One last thing about Devri. She. Loves. Sweets. Trevor is snacking on some cereal here, and her food radar kicked in from across the room, instantly transporting her onto his lap and about two inches from the spoon, her mouth the size of a Texan doughnut. Luckily, like a Texan doughnut, she is sweet, and makes sure to say the most moving "Please!" you have ever heard, so we give in a give her a bite or two.
Well, I guess that's it for now! In six weeks Trev will have his Master's, in eight I will have my Daughter, and in ten Devri will have her second birthday. So much to come! Life is beautiful.
