Valentine's Week

So here's a little update on our Valentine's week.  Sunday, we went to church and got sustained as Nursery Workers!  Yay!  Monday we kept busy visiting family and friends, and went with our friends Dustin and Amy to Trafalga!  Fun fun fun!  I was surprised at how much we enjoyed the arcade, especially the ones where you can win a lot of tickets.  You know, it's a really, REALLY good thing that Trev and I don't gamble with money, or we'd be in a lot of trouble!  :)  I do have funny memories of watching my grandpa take five dollars to hit the slots nearly every time we drove through Nevada.  The love is in my blood, but I'm resilient.  Sorta.  I do like making unfair bets with Trev about what Devri will do next or who can get to the top of the stairs first.  I always win.  Always.  And it's not gambling if you win, right?

Since Trev has to work Sunday evenings for his job right now, we decided that we'd celebrate Valentine's on one of his days off - Tuesday. We did the neatest thing ever - we used a Utah Connect Pass.  Fellas, you have to try this.  For less than $30 a person, you get free entrance to pretty much everything interesting in Utah and get a free meal at the Lion House Pantry.  Trev, Devri and I spent the morning at Hogle Zoo and the Pioneer Heritage Park, then dropped Devri off, went and had lunch at the Lion House, took a tour of the Beehive House (I really love Brigham Young), and after taking a pit stop at Mama Deakin's for a nap and a suit fitting for Trev, we went and saw "The Mystery of the Nile" at the Clark Planetarium.  So fun.  Trev and I seriously want to go kayak the Nile now.

Oh, the other day I got bored and went to the bathroom and butchered my hair.  At least six inches.  No one really noticed.  I was a little sad about it when I'd finished it - I really think I'm a long hair sort of person - but I'm starting to like a shorter cut more and more.  Cute little buns and curly 20s style hair are really fun, and it's a lot easier to keep out of the way when dealing with Devri.  

Devri is getting big!  We lowered her crib a notch today and stood her up in it.  She stood there holding on to the rail, gumming it every once in a while and grinning like she was so proud of herself!  Ah, life is so good.

Oh... And a banana frosty recipe

So, I'm trying to cut down a little bit on my sugar intake (which lately has been WAY out of hand) and I thought I'd put up this nice little do-hickey recipe.  For those of you that are addicted to Wendy's chocolate frosties, here ya go:

1 frozen banana
3/4 to 1 cup milk
2 tablespoons chocolate syrup (or to taste)

Throw all this stuff in, blend it up, and it actually makes a pretty decent substitution.

Weekly Update

It's been a really nice week for Trevor and Devri and I.  Things are really developing.  For me, I'm getting  better and better at being a stay-at-home mother.  I invited the neighbors over for dinner, and they came, and I served them food.  Pizza.  That I made.  And they didn't die.  It was a very good feeling.  I sent in my application to teach Hebrew, and I'm still waiting to hear the results.  I'm thinking this is going to be a little slower than I'd like, but it will be worth it if it works out.  As for Trev, it turns out that instead of the regular 90 or so that apply for the college, over 160 did.  To help hone down the numbers they are going to hold interviews and such.  We're still pretty sure that Trev is a shew-in, but it still makes us a little anxious.  Trev and I have gotten into a routine of doing the P90X workouts every day, and boy, are we sore.  Hopefully it will get easier and someday soon I'll be able to run a marathon, doing pull ups on random street lights and carrying two other people strapped to my feet at the same time.  Devri is becoming more and more of a contortionist.  She can now suck any toe she pleases, and somehow between me putting her to sleep on her back on one side of the crib she wakes up on her stomach facing the opposite direction on the other side of the crib.  She is unstoppable!  She's great, we're great, and overall, life is great.
